Hit play before reading!
Hi everyone! Today we begin this new year between watercolors, strokes, and music, where the bassoon creates a work of art with "Pinceladas" by the Cuban composer Tania León.
"Pinceladas" is a work of one movement, is impressive and with great virtuosity for the performer; the work begins with a great introduction of the bassoon in a free character, and an incredible cadence, followed by small interventions of the piano which allow us to focus all the attention on the beautiful sonority that the piece offers us.
The multiphonics are a resource that will be used throughout the piece, creating a great effect that enriches its sound spectrum, giving a sensation of large "Brushstrokes" with indefinite strokes, thus creating a work from improvisation in the painting.
In conclusion, "Pinceladas" is a work with an impressive musical sound, and a very high musical complexity for the performers; was written in 2016 and published in 2019 by Peermusical Classical, New York (United States), this version was recorded in 2020 for The Meg Quigley Virtual Bassoon Symposium and performed by bassoonist Nanci Belmont and pianist Mika Sasaki.
